Malta's Third Cardinal in history

Mario Grech (20 February 1957) is a Maltese prelate who was Bishop of Gozo from 2005 to 2019. He was Pro-Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops from October 2019 until he became Secretary General in September 2020. On 25 October 2020, Pope Francis announced he would raise him to the rank of cardinal at a consistory scheduled for 28 November 2020. Mario Grech was born in Qala, Gozo, on 20 February 1957. His family moved to Ta' Kerċem when he was a young boy. He attended the Victoria high school and then studied philosophy and theology at the Gozo diocesan seminary. He was ordained a priest on 26 May 1984. He then obtained a licenciate in civil and canon at the Pontifical Lateran University and a doctorate in canon law at the Pontifical University of Saint Thomas Aquinas. He then fulfilled pastoral assignments at the Cathedral of Gozo, in the National Shrine of Ta' Pinu, and the parish of Kerċem. His responsibilities for the Diocese of Gozo included service as Judicial Vicar of the diocese, a member of the Metropolitan Court of Malta, teacher of canon law at the seminary, and a member of the College of Consultors, of the Presbyteral Council and of other diocesan commissions. On 26 November 2005, Pope Benedict XVI named him Bishop of Gozo. He received his episcopal consecration on 22 January 2006 from his predecessor in Gozo, Bishop Nikol Joseph Cauchi. In 2011, he joined other Maltese bishops in advising Catholics to defeat a referendum that would allow the legislature to consider legalizing divorce. He was famous for prohibiting any Tridentine Masses from being held in Gozo, unlike the position taken by the Maltese Archbishop, Paul Cremona O.P. As president of the Episcopal Conference of Malta, he participated in the Synod of Bishops on the Family in 2014 and 2015. Speaking to the Synod in October 2014, Grech said that

"the doctrine of the faith is capable of progressively acquiring a greater depth"

and that addressing people in complex familial relations, or homosexuals or parents of homosexuals, "It is necessary to learn to speak that language which is known to contemporary human beings and who acknowledge it as a way of conveying the truth and the charity of the Gospel."

With Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna, Grech co-authored the Maltese bishops' pastoral guidelines on Amoris Laetitia, released in January 2017, which stated that in certain cases a divorced Catholic who remarried might receive communion after "honest discernment". The guidelines were republished in L'Osservatore Romano. The guidelines infamously said that:

"If, as a result of the process of discernment, a separated or divorced person who is living in a new relationship manages, with an informed and enlightened conscience, to acknowledge and believe that he or she is at peace with God, he or she cannot be precluded from participating in the sacraments of Reconciliation and the Eucharist."

In a December 2018 interview, he said he enjoyed discussions with atheists that sharpened his own beliefs and preferred dialogue to the confrontation his critics preferred. When asked about family and sexual issues he said:

If someone comes to me, asking me for help to discover Jesus Christ... he or she could be homosexual, and even in a homosexual relationship. It doesn’t matter. I will not impede that person; on the contrary I would help. The last thing I would do is take up a position against that person.... Before, we would say: 'put your life in order first, and then we’ll begin the journey towards God'. Today, on the other hand, we would say: 'Let us approach Jesus Christ... and Christ will help us put our lives in order.' ... 'Black' and 'white' still exist; but the grey area in-between has grown. It is in the grey areas that we must search. That’s why I said that I am wary of those priests, or Christians, who feel they already know all the answers. No one can make that claim. We all have to continue searching.

On 2 October 2019, Pope Francis named him Pro-Secretary General of the Synod of Bishops, in anticipation of succeeding Cardinal Lorenzo Baldisseri when he retired as Secretary General. Grech worked alongside Baldisseri and participated as a member in the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon region. Grech was also the Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Gozo until 2020. He was one of five Synod officials who served ex offico on the fifteen-person commission that was responsible for drafting the final document of the Amazon Synod. In his first interview after his appointment he stated that

"there is a movement toward which the Church can acquire a greater feminine face that would also reflect Mary’s face"

. On 4 July 2020, Pope Francis named Grech a member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, with the exception of reconciliation with traditional Catholic communities. On 25 October 2020, Pope Francis announced he would raise him to the rank of cardinal at a consistory scheduled for 28 November 2020. The previous Maltese cardinals were: Fabrizio Sceberras Testaferrata and Prospero Grech OSA .

Still, places do exist of quiet and of prayer, special shrines in which Mary, My Mother and the Mother of grace, is honoured.”

 

The quote above refers to the message of 5 March 1976, from Our Lord. From 1922, Jesus appeared with a message on every First Friday of the month to Fr. Albert Drexel (1889–1977), a prestigious professor of philology from the Vorarlberg in Austria and a devout Catholic priest. We hold fast, with all our heart and with all our soul, to Catholic Rome, Guardian of the Catholic Faith and of the traditions necessary to preserve this faith, to Eternal Rome, Mistress of wisdom and truth.

Is it not this that the Holy Father is repeating to us today? And if we can discern a certain contradiction in his words and deeds, as well as in those of the dicasteries, well we choose what was always taught and we turn a deaf ear to the novelties destroying the Church.

It is impossible to modify profoundly the lex orandi without modifying the lex credendi. To the Novus Ordo Missae correspond a new catechism, a new priesthood, new seminaries, a charismatic Pentecostal Church—all things opposed to orthodoxy and the perennial teaching of the Church.

This Reformation, born of Liberalism and Modernism, is poisoned through and through; it derives from heresy and ends in heresy, even if all its acts are not formally heretical. It is therefore impossible for any conscientious and faithful Catholic to espouse this Reformation or to submit to it in any way whatsoever.

The only attitude of faithfulness to the Church and Catholic doctrine, in view of our salvation, is a categorical refusal to accept this Reformation.

That is why, without any spirit of rebellion, bitterness or resentment, we pursue our work of forming priests, with the timeless Magisterium as our guide. We are persuaded that we can render no greater service to the Holy Catholic Church, to the Sovereign Pontiff and to posterity.

That is why we hold fast to all that has been believed and practiced in the faith, morals, liturgy, teaching of the catechism, formation of the priest and institution of the Church, by the Church of all time; to all these things as codified in those books which saw day before the Modernist influence of the Council. This we shall do until such time that the true light of Tradition dissipates the darkness obscuring the sky of Eternal Rome.

By doing this, with the grace of God and the help of the Blessed Virgin Mary, and that of St. Joseph and St. Pius X, we are assured of remaining faithful to the Roman Catholic Church and to all the successors of Peter, and of being the fideles dispensatores mysteriorum Domini Nostri Jesu Christi in Spiritu Sancto. Important Exorcisms - Part 2

Today we will continue this interesting series about exorcisms that took place on a woman in Switzerland between 1975‑1978. Speaking through the possessed woman, the demons were forced to tell the truth by Our Lady under the Solemn Church Exorcism. The first part can be found here.

The text is of the exorcisms that took place on 17 August and 31 October 1975. (E stands for exorcist, J stands for Judas Iscariot, a human demon). They deal about Ecône (i.e. the Fraternity of Saint Pius X - SSPX), Pope Paul VI, the Tridentine Mass and the Novus Ordo Mass.

J: Ecône will triumph.

E: What is that you said? Repeat that, Judas Iscariot! Who were you speaking about? In the name of Jesus, repeat, it, tell the truth and nothing but the truth!

J: After a long struggle, Ecône will triumph.

E: Speak in the name of Jesus!

J: Ecône is on the unique good road.

E: Is that the truth? Is it Heaven who said that? Speak, in the name of Jesus!

J: When I say: the good road I do not wish to say that there is nobody else on the good road; but the road which Ecône follows is singularly good. That is what we mean. There are not many roads which are good, but there are many people who are on the good road. Ecône is on the good road and many people do not recognize Ecône are searching for the truth, and so they also are on the good road.

E: Continue, in the name..., say what you must say!

J: Archbishop Mgr. Lefebvre will still have a great deal to suffer, but he is good.

E: Continue, in the name... say what you must say.

E: Is the liturgy he follows good? Tell the truth, in the name of Jesus!

J: The liturgy he follows is the only good one.

E: Is this the truth, in the name of Jesus?

J: It is the complete truth.

E: In the name of the Most Holy Trinity, have you lied?

J: No! It is the complete truth.

E: Where does it come from? Who ordered you to say that? Speak, in the name...!

J: It is She (he points upward) who says it; it is Those up there Who say it. The truth comes from on High. They, up there, do not like the new liturgy. In any case, the old Missal did not need to be modified... I am saying all of this against my will (he cries and sighs). In today's times, one should not obey all the bishops any longer.

E: There are still some good bishops. Speak, in the name of..., nothing but the truth!

J: There are still some who should be obeyed, but not all! Akabor has spoken about that previously (he sighs and has difficulty breathing)

J: You must pray for the Pope. He is in a worse plight than a martyr. He would rather be stoned like Stephen. He is a great Pope although he is forced to remain silent. He carries a cross. Few achieve his eminence, although he appears to be small and powerless. In the beginning, he made some mistakes, which he realised a long time ago, and now his hands and feet are tied, even his tongue. He cries out to Heaven that he would like to restore the old liturgy, the Tridentine Mass: he would like...but his hands and feet are tied. He can do nothing.

E: Speak only the truth, on behalf of the Blessed Virgin! Tell the truth, and nothing but the truth, about the Church and about Pope Paul VI!

J: You can be sure that Pope, Paul VI would like to re-introduce the Tridentine Mass. Whenever you see on television, or have to see or read any part of these novelties, you can be certain that this does not come from him.

E: Tell the truth, in the name...!

J: On 14 August, Akabor was forced to speak about the Mass and the Asperges Me which should be re-introduced at the beginning of Mass. That is true, that is true; then, we are obliged to flee from the church.

E: Tell the truth, Judas Iscariot, tell the truth, on behalf of the Blessed Virgin!

J: Without it, we are in the church. It would be better if the priest were to start again sprinkling the people with holy water from the top to the bottom of the church, as used to be the custom. It would also make us flee from within the people.

E: Tell the truth, on behalf of the Blessed Virgin, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! J: Another of our tasks is to distract the congregation. When the priest goes through the church with the holy water, the people are able to pray better. Moreover, this also removes the ideas and powers of black magic.

E: On behalf of the Blessed Virgin, tell the truth!

J: The Asperges Me, the thirty-three signs of the cross, the recitation of “Oh Lord I am not worthy” three times, and finally, at the end of the Mass, the prayer “St. Michael the Archangel”, the three “Hail Mary's” and the “Hail Holy Queen” should all definitely be brought back. Their suppression is our work, and, one way or another, that of the cardinals who are in our power.

E: Continue to tell the truth, on behalf of the Blessed Virgin!

J: Furthermore, Those up there (he points upward) prefer the Tridentine Mass to the Mass in  the vernacular and to the New Mass, because it cannot be translated exactly.

E: Do you mean the Tridentine Mass in Latin? Tell the truth, tell the truth. Judas Iscariot, nothing but the truth, on behalf of the Blessed Virgin!

J: The texts are difficult to translate into the vernacular. That is how those inexact words have come in - words which carry fewer blessings at Mass. Everything which is not said exactly as Christ wishes it, carries fewer blessings. This applies especially at the Consecration; the words of consecration must be pronounced in a perfectly correct way. Not one syllable should be changed. Everything must be done strictly correctly. Do you know how, in our place (Hell), everything is perfectly well-ordered? Even in the Catholic Church, things are no longer conducted in such an orderly fashion as they are where we come from.

E: Tell the truth, on behalf of the blessed Virgin, nothing but the truth!

...

J: If they had again the thirty-three signs of the cross, which, moreover, is in keeping with the Life of Christ and which was all worked out in advance - it was Jesus who organized that through the Holy Spirit; if they reestablished it (the Mass), from the Asperges Me right to the prayer “Saint Michael, Archangel”, and celebrated the Mass as Christ has wished, then...I don't want to say it.

E: Tell the truth, Judas Iscariot, by order of the Blessed Virgin. Lucifer, you have no right to disturb him! You must go away!

J: ...then, thousands of souls would be saved, who are not saved and who are going to their eternal destruction. The evil comes from the Mass, principally from the Mass. An endless flood of blessings used to flow from the Mass, when it was still celebrated properly. The Mass is the principal factor.

The Mass and Holy Communion are the two greatest things for you Catholics. All the mystics, all the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin must yield place to them. Holy Mass has an infinite value, an unimaginable value. Christ Himself goes up to the altar with all his plenitude of graces, which we hate so much. We must flee from a Mass that is still celebrated well. We have to flee at the very beginning, at the Asperges Me. Then, speaking figuratively, we can only watch, timidly, through a crack. Now, on the contrary, at the modern Mass, we can dance around, up to...I don't want to say it.

Important Exorcisms - Part 1

Today we will start an interesting series about exorcisms that took place on a woman in Switzerland between 1975‑1978. Speaking through the possessed woman, the demons were forced to tell the truth by Our Lady under the Solemn Church Exorcism, which was witnessed by the following priests who have all expressed their conviction of the authenticity of the revelations made by the demons upon the order of the Blessed Virgin:

The text is of the exorcism that took place on 14 August 1975. (E stands for exorcist, A stands for Akabor, a fallen angel, from The Choir of Thrones. The parts are about the Holy Mass and liturgy:

A: There were a few small things, which needed to be changed, but most of it - no. Believe me! In the liturgy, there was practically nothing to be changed. Even the Gospel reading should not be in the vernacular; it would be better if the Holy Mass were said in Latin. The reason can be seen if you just look at the Consecration, only the Consecration, but that is typical. At the Consecration, one uses the words: “This is My Body which will be given up for you”, followed by: “This is My Blood, which will be shed for you and for a great number”. That is what Jesus said.

 

E: It is not correct to say “for all”? Tell the truth, in the name... you have no right to lie.

 

A: It certainly isn't. The translations have not been completely accurate, and this is particularly the case with “for all”. It should not, and cannot, be “for all” - it should be “for a great number”. When the text is not correct, so the abundance of graces diminishes; the channel of graces still flows, but only sparsely. And the Consecration is accompanied by so many graces when the priest does things correctly, according to the old Tradition, and according to the Will of God. For you and for a great number” must be said, just as Christ Himself said it.

 

E: But, didn't Christ shed His Blood for all? Tell the truth in the name...!

 

A: No, He would have liked to shed it for all, but, in fact, it did not flow for all.

 

E: Because many have rejected it? Tell the truth in the name...!

 

A: Exactly; in this way it did not flow for all, for it did not flow for us in Hell.

 

E: Tell the truth, in the name...!

 

A: The new order of the Mass - the bishops have changed the Tridentine Mass - the new Mass is absolutely not as They up there want it (he points upward). The point will soon be reached when the whole Mass will no longer be valid.

 

E: How is the Tridentine Mass, the old Mass, which was prescribed by Pope St. Pius V? Tell the truth, in the name... and you have no right to lie!

 

A: It is the best in existence; it is in the standard, the true, the good Mass (he groans).

 

E: Akabor, tell the truth, in the name of and by the order of, the Blessed Virgin! We order you to say everything she charges you to say!

 

A: I said all that against my will, but I was made to! She up there (He points upward) forced me (he mutters).

 

E: Is there anything more that you must say, in the name..! But speak only the truth! Tell the truth, in the name...!

 

A: In the Mass, the true Mass, the Tridentine Mass, there used to be thirty-three Signs of the Cross. Now, there are very few - sometimes two, three when all goes well. And at the end - for the Blessing - you are not even required to get down on your knees (he cries and weeps despairingly). Do you know how we would kneel down...would fall to our knees...if we were still able to (he weeps and wails).

 

E: Is that correct – thirty-three Signs of the Cross were made at Holy Mass? Tell the truth, in the name…!

 

A: Of course it is correct, it is even compulsory. When it happens that way, we are not present; we are forced to flee from the Church; but the way things are now, we are there. The 'Asperges Me' must also be restored.” During the Asperges, we were obliged to flee before the holy water and the incense. The burning of incense must also be resumed. And, after Mass, the prayers “St. Michael the Archangel”, the three “Hail Mary's” and “Hail Holy Queen” must be said again.

 

E: Tell the truth, say what you must say, in the name...!

 

A: Lay people should not distribute Holy Communion (he cries out in a frightful voice), not at all! Not even nuns and brothers, never! Do you believe Christ would have entrusted this to the Apostles, if women and laymen were able to do it (he groans). How I was forced to say that!

What went wrong in the traditional Catholic movement in Malta (Part 5)

Immediately after Pro Tridentina (Malta) was founded, its archivist Anthony Mangion, nearly secured the possibility to have the Oratory of the Congregation of the Onorati in Valletta available to the organisation for the regular celebration of the Tridentine Mass. At this stage, it is useful to give some information about this place.

 

The Oratory annexed to the Church of the Jesuits belongs to the Congregation of the Onorati founded in 1600 by the Knights of St John. The chapel is dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the relics of St. Onorata are kept under the Main Altar. This present oratory was built at the expense of the Congregation in 1658 and replaces a previous one.

 

The Servant of God Fr. Giuseppe De Piro (1877 - 1933), founder of the once traditional Catholic M.S.S.P. (to see how much it has deviated, refer to this and this article) was once a member of the Congregazione degli Onorati.

 

Back to present times, there was opposition to this idea from the local church authorities, although it never became clear whether the then Archbishop of Malta, Paul Cremona, was himself against this initiative.

 

Unfortunately, nowadays the oratory is being used most of the year as a warehouse, as can be seen in the photos above. The first test for the Catholic Church in Malta to show its filial obedience to Pope Benedict XVI's Summorum Pontificum failed miserably.

Mater Boni Consilii - 25-26 April

Pope Pius XII composed the below powerful prayer, in honour of Our Lady of Good Counsel:

Holy Virgin, moved by the painful uncertainty we experience in seeking and acquiring the true and the good, we cast ourselves at thy feet and invoke thee under the sweet title of Mother of Good Counsel. We beseech thee: come to our aid at this moment in our worldly sojourn when the double darkness of error and of evil plot our ruin by leading minds and hearts astray.
Seat of Wisdom and Star of the Sea, enlighten the victims of doubt and of error so that they may not be seduced by evil masquerading as good; strengthen them against the hostile and corrupting forces of passion and of sin.
Mother of Good Counsel, obtain for us our most urgent need….. (here mention your request) and secure for us from thy Divine Son the love of virtue and the strength to choose, in doubtful and difficult situations, the course agreeable to our salvation.
Supported by thy hand we shall thus journey without harm along the paths taught us by the word and example of Jesus our Savior, following the Sun of Truth and Justice in freedom and safety across the battlefield of life under the guidance of thy maternal Star, until we come at length to the harbor of salvation to enjoy with thee unalloyed and everlasting peace. Amen.

Desperate Evil by Don Ottavio Michelini

My son, the matter of which I shall speak to you this evening is not new. I have told you of it several times in previous Messages. It is the struggle that Satan has unleashed against man.

Unable to face God directly, he fights it indirectly by unleashing his desperate wickedness (made of hatred, envy and jealousy) over the man destined to fill the open gaps with his rebellion to God.

Satan is called Prince of darkness because his fundamental intent is to obscure and overshadow the light of God in souls.

God is Light, Satan is Darkness.
God is Love, Satan is Hate.
God is Humility, Satan is Sovereignty.

The war declared by Satan to man in hatred of God has assumed so vast and grand proportions in its horrible reality that it has no comparison in human history.

The war, in general, is formed by a chain of battles. This battle, of a war that will continue until the end of time, is the greatest and dreadful one. Its epilogue is not far off, it will happen by the direct intervention of the Mother of mine and yours.

She will crush the Serpent's head again. She, the humble Servant of the Lord, by her humility has overcome pride and pride, and will definitely overcome it at the end of time.

Satan is darkness and therefore he does not see. His desperate pride prevents him.

 

Nevertheless he fears the defeat of this battle, which for him will be a cause of shameful debasement, while for my purified Church will be a long period of peace and so will be for the newly healed people of the many evils they suffer today.

This is why Satan has committed all his possibilities and those of his legions.

All the cunning, all the insidias of his corrupted nature but rich in innumerable gifts of power, intelligence and will, are used in his mad attempt, born and matured in him from the moment of his rebellion to God.

Destroy Me, the Christ, the Word of God made Flesh, and the Church out of my open Heart are the goal desperately longed for, and tenaciously pursued.

Close your eyes

But the crazy blindness has made him commit numerous tactical errors, typical of that of discovering too much.
 

An insightful general never lets his plans glimpse at his enemies, knowing full well that this is an unpardonable recklessness. Instead Satan has discovered many of his letters.

This is why My Vicar on earth has recently been able to say that today in the Church there are facts that can not be explained humanly: in them the direct interventions of the Prince of Darkness are evident.

However Bishops, Priests and almost all of the faithful do not see. They do not see because they close their eyes to the light, because they have their minds and hearts wrapped in darkness.

When Paul VI said: "The smoke of Hell has entered the Church" what did he mean? The contagion of Satan has entered the Church. The contagion of Satan is pride, pride.

I repeat: Satan in his mad, desperate illusion intends as a main objective to erase from the face of the earth Me, the Eternal Word of God and naturally with Me, to My Church out of my open Heart. I would like to annihilate the Mystery of the Incarnation, reason and cause of the liberation of humanity from its tyranny.

With the fall of Adam and Eve he thought to have defeated God, to have secured for ever a complete dominion over the children of guilt; He was convinced that he had snatched away his creatures by deception and cunning to God the Creator by subjecting them to his undeniable dominion, in time and in eternity.

But God is Love and with the unanimous concurrence of the divine Trinity, the Mystery of Salvation was decreed: hence the relentless hatred of Satan against God and against man.

Victory in your hands

 

Nowadays Satan, being darkness does not have the right vision of things, is convinced that he has the victory in his hands so that not without dramatic, horrible and dreadful convulsions he will let escape his prey, which is the humanity infected by his Evil: pride and presumption.

 

This war will have its epilogue to the end of time, but war is a chain of battles as I said; And the battle now in action is the largest, after the battle by St. Michael and his legions against the rebel powers.

I who am Wisdom, Mercy, Love and Omnipotence will know how to bend the dark manoeuvers and the crazy pride of Satan and his legions to get a triumph from all this; My Church purified.

Woe to those, my son, who refuse to see! An act of sincere humility is enough to allow light to seep into their souls.

Foolish and foolish if they persist in resisting the Love that wants them saved. Do they not know and do not think what they are giving up? Do they not know and do not think about what they are addressing?

The materialism

Materialism, the incarnation of Satan, denying and replacing God intends to give men a paradise here on earth, a happiness that she does not possess and therefore can not give.

A tragic lie, a shrewd deception to which many Christians, priests and even Bishops have clung in the name of progress, forgetting the end of Creation and of Redemption!

This is why we are no longer talking about the New Ones, the true enemy of man, the sin with which Satan's work is identified. Bishops, many priests, are responsible for this.

Almost all Christians have allowed themselves to be seduced by straying from the straight path. Meanwhile every man as an individual is on the march towards Eternity, or eternal joy or eternal damnation.

The man, the prey of Satan, is at the centre of a furious struggle of Satan, unleashed to snatch it from God who, with a providential design, has sent to the earth his Word made Flesh, to liberate man and thus to give him primitive grandeur, Dignity and freedom.

Who is it to guide man on his earthly journey and pilgrimage?

To My Church.

But in my Church the Prince of darkness has brought his contagion: pride and pride, obscuring minds and hardening hearts.

The church is mine

But the Church, my son, is mine!

She has come out of My Heart Merciful and open.

I want My Church: one and holy, pure and resplendent of my Doctrine and not divided by heretics in opposition to perennial contrast between themselves. And so it will be after the near purification.

I have triumphed as I told you, in suffering and in pain and so it will be for My Church.

But can God who is Love, abandon his children whom he has loved and loved from all eternity?

The woman in labour groans, but then rejoices because she has given birth to a son.

It is time for the grain thrown into the bosom of the earth to decompose and then bear much fruit.

The time is near when my Church will groan in the fierce and unheard of persecution to be reborn One, Pure, Holy and Immaculate.

She will be the mother of the peoples who will gather under her wings and in peace and justice, she will be a teacher and sure guide for all men of good will.

Here's why I tell you: it's urgent to do it soon. I want bishops and priests to prepare themselves in humility and penance, in prayer that must be unanimous. Do not forget that My Passion followed My Resurrection.
