Rev. Nicholas Doublet (r.) one of the priests who implemented Summorum Pontificum in Malta |
The second recipient of our virtual Hall of Honour is another founder of Pro Tridentina (Malta). Reverend Nicholas Doublet was actively involved during his seminary days when the provisionally-called Soċjeta' Maltija għall-Quddiesa
Tridentina was launched at the University of Malta in 2007. However, due to statutory restrictions, he was never a member of the Executive Committee. He was the vital link between the first Executive Committee and the Church.
Following his priestly ordination in 2009, Fr Doublet celebrated a number of Masses in the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite, in particular in his native town, Birkirkara. Other (private) Masses were held in Ta’ l-Ibraġ, at the medieval chapel of Ħal Millieri (Żurrieq) and in St. Paul's Bay.
Fr Doublet furthered his studies at the
Pontifical Gregorian University, in Rome. He specialises in Theology and Church History. He is also close to Opus Dei. In Rome he is considered an expert of Cardinal Pietro Gasparri, former Secretary of State of Popes Benedict XV and Pius XI.
His contact details are available at the Birkirkara clergy website.
